BLT Dip Recipe
Yep, Even the "L"
I know what you're going to say. When I tell you that the BLT Dip recipe calls for mayo (and sour cream), chopped tomatoes, and crumbled bacon on bread dippers you say, Hey, where's the L? In this case, "L" stands for "presentation." You can serve BLT Dip on a bed of lettuce leaves or, better yet, in a hollowed out head of iceberg lettuce.
BLT Dip1 cup mayonnaise 1 cup sour cream 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder Pinch of ground black pepper 2 tablespoons finely chopped green onion or chives 1 large tomato, seeded, drained and diced 1 pound bacon, crispy-cooked and crumbled or diced
Mix all the ingredients together except the tomato and bacon. Chill until it's time to serve. Just before serving, stir in the bacon and tomato. Serve with toast points or quarters, or toasted pita triangles. Chips, scoops, crackers and crudités are good, too.
Presentation Ideas and Options: - Serve in a hollowed-out head of iceberg lettuce or on a bed of lettuce leaves of your choice. (There's the "L"!)
- Serve in a sourdough bread bowl. Don't forget to use the hollowed-out bread as dippers.
- Substitute 1/2 cup of chopped sun-dried tomatoes, re-hydrated, for the chopped tomato.
- For a thicker dip with less fat, substitute Neufchatel (light cream cheese) for part or all of the mayo.
- BLT Dip is great as a sandwich spread or on baked potatoes.
