Fried Banana Recipe

Grilled Bananas, Too

Fried Bananas, GreatPartyRecipes.com

You could say this is a "lightly" fried banana recipe for the brunch menu, cooked in a little butter and honey and sprinkled with cinnamon and ginger.

Or try the Grilled Bananas version for outdoor entertaining.

Fried Bananas

6 ripe but firm bananas
About 1/3 cup honey, divided
About 4 tablespoons butter, divided
Ground cinnamon
Ground ginger

Peel the bananas and cut them into thirds crosswise. Slice the thirds in half lengthwise if the bananas are large.

Fry the bananas in batches, as necessary, dividing the honey and butter accordingly, as follows:

Melt the honey and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add banana pieces to the skillet in a single layer.

Cook, turning only once, until brown on both sides and tender, 2 minutes or so each side.

Transfer to a serving platter and sprinkle with cinnamon and ginger. Serve warm or room temperature. 6-8 servings.

Option:

Grilled Bananas

Slice the bananas as above.

Warm the honey in a bowl in the microwave and coat the banana pieces in the warm honey.

Grill over medium-hot coals or flame, turning once, until tender and grill marks show. Proceed as above.
