Jalapeno Hushpuppies1 1/2 cups yellow and/or white cornmeal1/2 cup flour 3 teaspoons baking powder 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 1/2 teaspoon pepper 1 small onion, finely chopped 1 cup buttermilk 1 egg, beaten 1/4 cup finely chopped jalapeno peppers Oil for deep frying Stir together the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt and pepper. Add the remaining ingredients and stir until blended. Drop heaping teaspoonfuls of the mixture into hot (350°) oil. Fry the hushpuppies for about 3 minutes, or until golden brown, turning once during cooking. Remove the hushpuppies from the oil and drain on paper towels. Makes about 30 hushpuppies. Surprise me
