Roast Beef Pinwheels

Roast Beef Pinwheels is a zippy, classy little pinwheel appetizer recipe that only looks hard, only looks like you've spent hours preparing it. But in fact, pinwheels are an easy and attractive addition to the party menu.

Sliced roast beef can be purchased from your local deli, warehouse market or better grocer without the fuss of preparing a roast yourself. Enjoy Roast Beef Pinwheels.

Roast Beef Pinwheels

4 large, thin slices medium-rare roast beef *
1/2 cup cream cheese
1-2 tablespoons prepared horseradish, or to taste

Whip the cream cheese with a fork until soft. Stir in the horseradish. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the slices of roast beef.

Starting at a narrow end, roll each slice tightly and wrap them individually in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

To finish the Pinwheels, remove the plastic wrap and cut the rolls into 1/2-inch slices. Arrange them on a serving platter with picks, or a bowl as pictured above.

Makes 36 to 48 appetizers.


  • Using horseradish sauce in the Roast Beef Pinwheels recipe, rather than straight prepared horseradish, cuts the zippiness but, also, the flavor of the recipe a bit.
  • Smaller slices of roast beef can be used in a pinch; just make more "rolls" and slice them a little thicker. 
  • * In the photo above you can see that I slipped up with this batch. The appetizers definitely look best when the meat is medium rare or even rare.  The pinkish center and browned edges against the white filling is amazing.
  1. Either way, though, they're delicious. If you can't find packaged roast beef slices of the right color and size head to the deli. It's worth it. I'll post a new picture next time around.
